Lake District Information

Under Wisconsin Statutes Chapter 33, a Lake District is defined as a special-purpose unit of government, designed specifically to manage, maintain, and protect lakes and their surrounding environments. These districts are formed by local communities. The statutes provide a framework for how these districts operate, their purposes, and the powers they are granted to achieve their goals.

The towns of Sevastopol and Jacksonport would like for Clark Lake to form a Lake District.  It is a very complicated issue which Protect Clark Lake does not support for the reason that the towns have the have the legal authority to pass an ordinance without the need of an additional layer of government.
